Teresa Breen is a passionate advocate for the transformation of the healthcare delivery system. She brings deep expertise in medical group strategy, hospital-physician alignment, and care variation reduction to her role as SVP of Member Insight, and leads the firm’s development of strategic and operational insights for Gist Healthcare members, as well as other industry and policy stakeholders.
Prior to joining Gist, Teresa spent over 13 years at Advisory Board —now part of UnitedHealth’s Optum division—where she served as Managing Director and oversaw two national research membership programs for physician leaders. In addition to authoring research studies for national meeting events and publications, she frequently presented at strategic planning sessions and board retreats. Teresa also led a year-long consulting engagement with a large national health system focused on reducing care variation.
Teresa earned her M.A. in International Relations from the University of Birmingham in the UK where she studied on a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and History summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles where she also minored in Public Policy. Teresa is based in Portland, Oregon.
